Hi guys,
Jojo, I feel for you and your daughter. I mentioned on another entry that I was diagnosed with ALL(BcelG) in May and am going through the Fralle 93 protocol which has about a dozen or more LP’s for treatment. They can be unpleasant so I understand what Carly is experiencing. I ended up with some shocking low pressure headaches that lasted 2 weeks from the first few of these LP’s, one of which was given to me on my 31st birthday and I begged the Dr to bring one of those giant margaritas instead . Of course he didn’t. I’m now ending the first intensification phase which was the second hard phase and still have one intensification phase to complete early next year. Day by day I’m improving and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it feels so worth it to keep fighting.

I don’t know what advice I can offer except it is important to ride out the lows as much as you both can and grasp the highs with both hands and live life to the fullest because those memories will get you through the next round of chemo. The treatments for ALL are long and cyclical in the ups and downs so hang in there, speak to people to vent your worries and keep fighting.

My favourite quote:
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever.”
Lance Armstrong.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would update on Carly's progress.
by the way the photo is of me and my mum who was having chemo last year for breast cancer (she's the older one in the hat)

Carly is about to go back into hospital for chemo for the B part of cycle 3. We are hoping then that the doctors will give her 1 month off as we are going to try and havest some eggs last 2 weeks of January and then the big day 11th Feb going into St Vincents for the BMT. We are so lucky that her younger brother Charles is a 6 point match (not sure what that exactly means other than it is a good result), then the 5 week stint in hospital which she is really nervous about as she is hospital phobic. She has been going to hypnotherapy for the last month and that does seem to help with the anxiety, but we are taking that one day at a time.

So the next hurdle will be the recovery which I have no idea what to expect. If anyone has some insight to what she might go through please let me know.

All is looking good and we are all positive

Have a great day to you all

Jojo

Hi Jojo,

Try and do some light excercise when she's up for it and make the most of times when she wants to things. Stay away from crowds, and go to places in irregular times when its quiet.

Stay positive and rest assured once the BMT is over things will be looking up!

Best of wishes to you both,

Martin
