I haven't been able to find much information on the eligibility criteria for the Leukaemia Foundation artwork competition. (Let me know if I've failed to find an item on the criteria somewhere - not an unusual occurrence and in fact I've developed a saying which in my experience applies very widely in life - "the obvious is not always obvious" .

I'm wondering if it's restricted to young Australians diagnosed with a blood cancer, or whether perhaps it's open to any young persons around the world who have been diagnosed with cancer, such as the members of the myplanet.planetcancer community.

Also, I wonder if the artwork needs to be directly relevant to blood cancers, so an artwork which is drawn by (for example) a young person with breast cancer which includes a breast in the drawing would not be suitable for the competition?

Great to see we have some interest in the competition. I will have to check on some of your questions early next week, because I too am not 100% sure of the criteria.

As we would like to publish the art work in our Leukaemia Foundation information booklets, I believe we would like artwork to be relevant to people living with blood cancers.

I will get back to you with more information though Ed

..in addition to the above reply.. The competition is open to anyone living with (or affected by) a blood cancer. Entries from people of any age or nationality are most welcomed.

I'll wait a little while to see if the groups I'm involved with post any info about the competition in response to the message Dan sent them, and if not (or if it needs additional info), then I will post about it into their forums including the info you've provided .

Hello all

I have just put the below details on 'Talk Blood Cancer' in regard to the Leukaemia Foundation's Art Competition, as there is some cross over between these two forums, I thought I would post it here as well, as I am not sure everyone knows the closing date etc.

This competition is open to any person affected by leukaemias, lymphomas, myeloma and related blood disorders, depicting any aspect of their blood cancer journey.

The competition is also open to anyone with other forms of cancer depicting their experiences, but not depicting a particular cancer per se (as they are to be used in our newsletters, booklets etc). This may include (as examples): treatment, side effects, emotions, relationships, diagnostic tests etc.

The artwork must be original (any 2D medium), and the closing date is March 31st, 2009. The prize for the best artwork will be $100, and the finalists will have their work published and acknowledged in our future booklets and newsletters.

Please submit all artwork to:
The Leukaemia Foundation; Attn Cassandra Gauld; PO Box 2126; Windsor QLD 4030.
