I've had bone-marrow issues for over 10 years now. Aplastic Anemia was first diagnosis. Now I'm just having problems with my platelets. They won't go much over 20. But I'm participating in a clinical trial in Melbourne, to supress the lymphocytes, thought to be destroying my platelets.
My immune system seems to be the one giving me grief. And now it seems that my thyroid gland is being over-active. Not sure if it's related. Will ask my hematologist. Have to wait a few months for a specialist appointment about it. But it seems to me, that all of these conditions are related to my immune response... interesting.
Does anyone here have these types of issues?

I actually just found out that Prednisolone can affect hormone levels and thyroid function. So it may be just that. Not sure what they can do about it. I was cut back to 25mg a few weeks ago, and hopefully off it all together soon. Because it makes it really hard to sleep. Will see my Dr this Friday to discuss it.

Just wanted to add that I now have a diagnosis of MDS... slow progressing type only affecting my platelets at the moment. So just going to go with the flow! And get on with my life. Glad to finally have a definate diagnosis.
