The world of cancer, treatment, hospitals and specialists is confusing to say the least. Unfortunately, the gruelling, head-spinning process doesn’t terminate when treatment ends. How does life return to some sense of normality after your life, values and indeed, your sense of identity, has irrevocably changed? Increasingly, cancer is no longer a death sentence but a life sentence. Survivorship itself can be an uphill battle. The way to climb to the top? Educate yourself and become your own advocate. Remember, knowledge is power. This section brings together all kinds of information which are useful for young people. There are news items of particular relevance, information about clinical trials - what they are and how to access them, and information about your particular disease. Of course, this list is limited and if you have specific questions or need more information, please ask your doctor or talk to a support services co-ordinator at the Leukaemia Foundation. For general information, there’s a list of useful resources in the Revive Links section. These sites will be particularly helpful for finding information about specific issues such as fertility, employment, bereavement and more. For specific information, please download the Leukaemia Foundation's Young Adults with a Blood Cancer booklet Please let us know if there’s anything you think should be included in this section to keep you informed. |
