[size=4][/size] i am just wondering if it's not a silly Question is it alright to get married with this sort of cancer.. any one just married or going to be married.. My father is not letting me get married and i feel very sad about it he is saying i got CML and it not a good idea to get married right at the momenet.. I am going new drugs called Tasigna Nilotinib and his worried those tablets might give me side affects as i am not still on them yet but he assume's that marraige life won't work out well with CML.. i think his crazy..

Why would it be wrong to get married? I wouldn't agree or support going out and finding someone to marry for thr sake of marrying, but if you have been with someone and marriage was on the cards and then CML came along and threw a spanner in the works I see why you can't get married.

My husband was diagnosed with CML just under a year before we got married. We would have waited longer to get married (we were already engaged) but once we got the diagnosis we weren't going to waste a minute.

I think i met the right person.. i am gald hear people are married, it's not crime.. just because we have cancer we can't get married.. anyway i am hopeing for the better try and to get married at least next year, dose any one here with CML have children after they got cml?

If you met them after your diagnosis and you have only been diagnosed for a year, I wouldn't suggest getting married. One year is too short in my view for a 'normal' relationship to lead to marriage, let alone one that has issues such as cancer in it.

As for the children issue, sorry we can't help. My husband was diagnosed when I was pregnant with our last child. We were told no fathering children while he took Glivec, and we had planned for it to be our last child already.

Hi social so you also think its to early.. hmm.. well i just hope next year then.. so no children with the cancer treatments huh.. so sad for me then oh well being 27 and finding all these things soo hard.. hm i met mr right.. i guess i give another year befor i just think about marraige..

Take my opinion as just that. An opinion given by someone else. You have to do what you believe to be right. If you feel marriage is the right thing to do and you believe you and your partner have worked out all the issues surrounding creating a life together & a life together with CML then only you two can say if you are ready.
I hold the opinion that anyone who gets married should look at it with open eyes and make sure all issues are worked out. That you share the same goals, that you have the same views when it comes to children and where your futures are going. That you have the same belief systems and that the big issues have been talked about. Some people have it all sorted after a year, some don't get around to discussing it until they are married.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you are able to have the life you want, regardless of what CML throws at you

Hi social you are right.. and i will talk all the issues with my patner i think we will get married next year which make my father get carmed abt all this matter.. thank for your help it was really good infor for me..

Hi Dan thanks for the reply.. yes we can wait bit longer since we love each other.. so much.. and if i don't happen maybe its for the best also.. anyway but next year even if my father dose not agree we going plan it and do it..if i get married.. I think it's a sri lankn thing where the parents just over protectivehehe..
oh well thank you all for your advice been so helpfull.. its better do a nice wedding than a rushed one..as the year is ending soon.. where next year we got plenty of time to plan it well..
